The Area

In a word, beautiful. If you like open spaces and breathtaking sunrises, this is home. Main Street has its character and historic elements at every corner. But take a few steps out of town and it’s rolling hills, picturesque farmland and barns. Kids here actually spend time outdoors. Of course, all the necessities are local. But if you want to venture out for the day, Gettysburg, Hershey, and Lancaster PA, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., or west toward Frederick or the Allegheny Mountains are only 20 min to 90 minutes away respectively. Skiing at Liberty Mountain is so close there is a club at the high school that skis after school.

Schools

All Taneytown schools are actively engaged with the community as a whole. Parents are very welcome and encouraged to be a part of their children’s schools.

Homes

The oldest home still standing today in Taneytown was built in 1762. If you are looking for a restoration project, there are plenty of historic properties in the area just longing to be cared for. In fact, two such places will soon be open as bed and breakfast/event venues! On the other end of the spectrum are the new homes of Meadowbrook.
